Feeding more than 2,000 people every year for 48 years costs a lot of money. That's why today, Hy-Vee presented Mr. Thanksgiving with a check for $13,000.
Every year, Bob Vogelbaugh hosts a community Thanksgiving dinner. These dinners usually cost about $25,000, which Vogelbaugh cannot raise on his own.
"Without Hy-Vee, there wouldn't be -- we wouldn't be going into year 49. It has just gotten so big. So, without Hy-Vee - ordering all the stuff through them, and then also, all the money that they do raise - I just couldn't do it anymore."
Hy-Vee has been helping Vogelbaugh with the dinners since 2011, raising a total of $116,000.
Today's check for $13,000 will help pay for last Thanksgiving.
