Moline Seeks Developer for Spiegel Warehouse

City of Moline

The City of Moline is looking for someone to redevelop a vacant warehouse, that'll sit near the new I-74 bridge once its built. Last month, the city purchased the old Spiegel Warehouse on 20th Street, and today sent out a request for proposals.

In December, aldermen approved buying the lot that includes the Spiegel Moving and Storage building for over $300,000. Planning and Development Director, Ray Forsythe, says the 33,000 square foot, four-story building is structurally sound, and could be used for residential or commercial space.

In 2014, Moline included the warehouse, and other vacant properties, in a Tax Increment Financing District, as part of its new Riverfront Plan.

The city will schedule tours of the Spiegel building to those wanting to submit proposals. Written proposals are due February 12th
