Major Tournament Coming to QC in 2016

Staff from the Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau spent the weekend in Saint Charles, Missouri, watching the Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball tournament. One year from now, the tournament will be held here, at the I Wireless Center in Moline.

Bureau president and ceo, Joe Taylor, says their goals were to observe how the 4-day event is run, and to promote the Quad Cities - handing out visitor guides and meeting conference officials.
Taylor says the arena in Saint Charles is located several miles out of town.
He says the tournament will bring all ten teams, plus coaches, college officials, and pep bands to the I Wireless Center, and then an estimated 7-10,000 paid admissions to the games.

The Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball tournament begins on March 10th, 2016.

(The conference includes: Northern Iowa, Drake, Southern Illinois, Bradley, Illinois State, Loyola, Indiana State, Mo. State, Wichita State, and Evansville.)

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
