Leischner Hired by QC Airport

Quad City Airport

Later this month, a new executive director will take over at the Quad City Airport. Tuesday morning, the Board of Commissioners approved the hiring of Ben Leischner to replace Bruce Carter who's retiring after 19 years.

For the past 14 years, Leischner has worked for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington state, most recently as Airport Operations Manager and Airline Scheduling Manager.

Thirty seven people applied for the job and four finalists visited the Quad Cities last month for interviews.

He officially starts his new job on May 28th.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
