As the police chief retired in Bettendorf, a new chief took his place. Thursday Phil Reddington made his final radio call to the dispatcher on his way to the swearing in ceremony for his replacement, Keith Kimball.
Reddington retired after 41 years with the department, including 25 as chief.
Kimball has been with the department for 28 years, and calls his promotion to chief, "an incredible honor."
"I'm ready. I'm honored. And looking forward to working with everybody. And I can tell you that the officers I work with on a daily basis, the men and women of the Bettendorf Police Department, are some of the best we have, not only here locally but in the US. And I hope that I can live up to their expectations."
Kimball most recently has served as captain, and was chosen to replace Reddington in February.
He started as a patrol officer, also serving as school liaison, field training officer, evidence technician, detective, and patrol commander.
