A Golden Celebration Of People

"A Golden Celebration of People" -- that's the name of the 50th anniversary party for Project Now, the community action agency in the Illinois Quad Cities. Tomorrow afternoon, the agency will host elected officials and residents to at Schwiebert Park in Rock Island.

Project Now's mission is to help people move out of poverty with programs such as Affordable Housing, Head Start, Home-Delivered Meals, and Quality Used Clothing Stores.

Maureen Hart, Executive Director, hopes everyone comes to celebrate the service it's provided.

"What we really believe is that our customers are golden and they are up against a lot of obstacles and we want to  celebrate, we want to hold a celebration with our customers and the community at large."

A Golden Celebration of People will be held Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island. In case of rain, it will be held at the Martin Luther King Center.

Project Now has been serving Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer counties since 1968.
