Gleason Running for Iowa Senate

Marie Gleason

A community activist and John Deere employee has decided to run for the Iowa Senate. Thursday Marie Gleason of Bettendorf announced her bid for the democratic nomination in District 47 that's now represented by republican Roby Smith of Davenport.

District 47 includes part of eastern Davenport, plus Bettendorf, Riverdale, Panorama Park, and Pleasant Valley Township.

Gleason works as a Project Manager in human resources for John Deere.

She says her goal is "to bring common sense to the Iowa Capitol." And, "we need leadership that reflects the values and priorities of the people in Senate District 47, not politics as usual."

Smith is now serving his second term in the Iowa Senate.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
