Former Augustana Coach Joins Hall of Fame

Augustana College

A successful coach at Augustana College has been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Kevin Puebla received a Lifetime Service Award over the weekend from the Illinois chapter of the Hall of Fame.

Puebla wrestled at Moline High School and the University of Illinois before going into coaching. And after serving as an assistant at Illinois, he came to Augustana in 1987.

During 13 seasons as head coach, through 2000, he and his wrestling teams compiled a dual meet record of 168 wins and 57 losses, 12 conference titles, and eight top-25 national finishes.

Currently Puebla lives in Moline and works in sales for a company called DAS Incorporated.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
