Finalists for Augustana Provosts to Visit Campus

Finalists for one of the top jobs at Augustana College will come to campus for interviews this week. The first finalist for provost, or chief academic officer, will be Dr. Gail Summer, who will visit Monday.

Summer is currently the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ferrum College in Virginia.

On Tuesday Dr. Michael Green will be interviewed. He taught and served as Associate Dean at Augustana before leaving to become Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty at Lebanon College in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Christopher Taylor will visit on Wednesday. He currently serves as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Drew University in New Jersey.

One of them will replace Dr. Pareena Lawrence, who is leaving Augustana after five years to become president of Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
