Falling at Joslin - Rising at Moline

Flooding continues along the Rock River, and it could go on for another week or more.

The National Weather Service says Friday afternoon, the Rock at Joslin was 6.3 feet over flood stage, and just beginning to fall. But it's not expected to drop below flood stage for at least a week.

At Moline, the Rock has reached 3 feet over flood stage, and it should crest half-a-foot higher Saturday afternoon. It will also stay above flood stage for a week or more.

After cresting earlier this week, the Wapsipinicon River at DeWitt has fallen to flood stage Friday, and will probably drop two feet or more by Saturday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
