Early Voting Now Open in RI County

It should be easy to vote early in the Illinois primary election for residents of Rock Island County.

Early voting is now underway in the clerk's office in downtown Rock Island, and it will add four more locations on March 5th - the Moline library, Milan Municipal Building, Silvis city hall, and Western Illinois University.

County Clerk Karen Kinney says during the two weekends before the March 20th primary, her office will be open on Saturdays and Sundays, and during the final week before election day, her office will be open additional hours on weekdays.

And for those who can't vote at any of these times and are unable to make it to the polls, absentee voting by mail is still an alternative.

She reminds voters that taking selfies in the voting room with ballots is illegal in Illinois, so she's once again set up a "selfie station" outside her office.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
