Early School Closings

Some schools in the Quad Cities area will close early Monday because of high heat and humidity. The forecast calls for sunny, with a high near 91, but with heat index values as high as 101.

Most of the early dismissals are set for early Monday afternoon, and some schools are also scheduled to close early tomorrow.

Students affected attend Alleman High School, Alwood, Galesburg, the Mercer County School District, ROWVA School District, Seton Catholic School, Rockridge Schools, and Wapello Schools.
Also closing early today will be the schools in the Moline district without air conditioning.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
