Detours in Bettendorf

Iowa DOT
working in downtown Bettendorf on the new I-74 bridge

As part of construction of the new I-74 Mississippi River Bridge, some work and detours will begin this week  ( 4/2/18 ) in Bettendorf. The Iowa Department of Transportation says the work includes repairing 14th Street, and building a new entrance ramp from Grant Street to westbound Interstate 74.

Starting this week, and through the end of the summer, 14th Street will be reduced to one lane between Grant Street and the westbound I-74 on-ramp in downtown Bettendorf.

There will also be shoulder closures and intermittent night-time lane closures on I-74 between Grant Street and Middle Road to facilitate installation of storm sewers. And this project will continue through the end of the year.

There'll also be intermittent nighttime lane width restrictions on the westbound I-74 on-ramp at Middle Road for widening. The work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the summer.

Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area.

After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
