Deere Announces Sustainability Goals

John Deere

John Deere has announced an ambitious list of sustainability goals, and set a deadline to achieve them of 2022. The goals focus on 5 key areas including occupational safety, sustainable energy use, responsible water use, increased recycling, and sustainable products.

In a press release, Chairman and CEO Sam Allen says the goals address Deere's commitment to protect the the world's most valuable resources, both natural and human.

The company plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15 percent by making sure that at least half of its electricity comes from renewable sources. While under recycling, the goal is to recycle 85 percent of total waste generated by the company.

Deere also plans to reduce its emissions of carbon dioxide and increase the use of sustainable materials.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
