Davenport's mayor and police chief will host a couple of meetings to talk about young people and violence.

Mayor Frank Klipsch and Chief Paul Sikorski scheduled the Youth Community Action Summit for Thursday at the River Center. They are inviting people to come with ideas and information that will help Davenport solve the problems that lead to violence. That includes last month's fatal shooting of 16-year-old Jovontia Jones.

The mayor says the summit will be the first step to address violence among young people. Early next month, another meeting will be held to report the findings of the summit and discuss what to do next.

Davenport's Youth Community Action Summit will start at 1:00 and 5:30 pm on Thursday at the River Center. The city is asking people to register on Event Brite
