Filmmakers who love deadlines will enjoy a new contest in September. Those who enter will only have seven days to shoot and edit an entire movie.
Organizer Brandon Gale, of Davenport, directed his first short film last summer in Texas, at the Corpus Christi Seven Day Film Contest. Then after returning home, he decided to launch one in the Quad Cities.
Contestants may submit any number of films, but the entrance fee will be 30 dollars for each one.
An independent panel of judges will select the best picture, and the cast and crew will receive a $300 grand prize. Gale also says awards will be given in categories, just like the Oscars.
The contest will begin on September 6th, then a public screening of all the entries will be held at the end of the week. Movie-goers will vote on their favorite film which will receive the Viewer's Choice award.
The kickoff party for the Quad Cities Seven Day Films Contest will be held in August. Gale says it's for actors, crew members, and anyone else who wants to get involved. More information is HERE.
