Actor and comedian Bill Murray will pack up his clubs and travel to the Quad Cities next week. He'll play in the John Deere Classic pro-am on Wednesday morning, with D.A. Points, at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis.
Murray has become something of a golf icon after his portrayal of the hapless greens keeper Carl Spackler in the movie "Caddyshack." And, he's always loved golf. He's been a regular at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am, where he's known for outrageous outfits and interacting with the spectators.
Murray grew up in Wilmette, a suburb of Chicago, where he caddied when he was a teenager.
He'll play Wednesday with D.A. Points, who has been on the PGA Tour since 2005. He's won two tournaments and 17 top-10 finishes.
