The Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce will soon start looking for a new leader. Friday Tara Barney announced her resignation, in her words, "to pass the torch to new leadership."
She's led the chamber since it was formed in 2010.
The chair of the chamber board, Pat Eikenberry, says Barney has done a fantastic job, with many accomplishments.
"The largest was probably merging the chambers into one, and creating a central, regional focus for economic development."
He says during her tenure, thousands of jobs have been created in the Quad Cities, she helped launch the Quad Cities Manufacturing Hub, and helped organize and promote the chamber's efforts to recruit and keep young professionals in the area.
Barney first joined Davenport One in 2002, and then became ceo of the Quad Cities chamber when it was formed from that group and several others in 2010.
Taking her place on an interim basis will be vice president Kristin Glass.
