Augustana Play at Regional Festival

Augustana College

Students from Augustana College will put on a play in Milwaukee Thursday. "A Green River" was performed on campus last year, then was chosen for this year's regional festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

Jeff Coussens, chair of the college's Theater Arts Department, says it's about a returning soldier, suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome.
Written by local playwright Aaron Randolph III, it was first performed by the Quad City Theater Workshop. For its production, Augustana brought in alumnus and Broadway director, Phi McKinley.

Coussens says nearly all of the actors from last year's production, and the set, will make the trip to Milwaukee for Thursday night's performance.
"A Green River" is one of just seven plays chosen for the regional festival.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
