The Quad Cities will host kayakers, mountain bikers, and runners this weekend. Saturday, River Action will hold the annual Taming of the Slough Adventure Triathlon.
The race includes a 3.8-mile paddle around Campbell's Island, a nearly nine-mile bike ride, and a two-mile off-road run, finishing at Empire Park in East Moline.
Participants can compete individually, or as two or three person teams. This year, River Action added two new categories for the most competitive racers, called the Male Elite and Female Elite groups.
Saturday, the 11th annual Taming of the Slough Adventure Triathlon begins at 8 am.
