Station WVIK has five to ten full-time employees, and therefore required to engage in at least two (2) long-term EEO recruitment initiatives pursuant to Section 73.2080 (c)(2) of the FCC’s rules.

1. Establishment of Training Program to Enable Station Personnel to Acquire Skills:

August 24, 2006 – Provided access to Chamber of Commerce event that provided criteria for successful grant writing to Sonita Oldfield-Carlson, Development Director.

October 30, 2006 – Provided access to Western Illinois University Journalism Day program to Herb Trix, News Director. 

November 28, 2006 – provided Datatel software training in constituent management to Business Manager Colleen Sibthorp. 

December 15, 2006 – Provided access to Public Broadcasting Management Association course in using AFR in CPB Financial Reporting to Business Manager Colleen Sibthorp.

January 11-12, 2007 – Provided Datatel software training in constituent management to Business Manager Colleen Sibthorp.

January 17-18, 2007 – Provided access to Major Giving Conference in Las Vegas, NV to Development Director Sonita Oldfield-Carlson.

January 25, 2007 – Provided Datatel software training in recognition management  to Business Manager Colleen Sibthorp.

February 27-28, 2007 – Provided Datael software training in communications management fundamentals to Business Manager Colleen Sibthorp.

March 21, 2007 – Provided Datatel software training in campaign management and analysis to Business Manager Colleen Sibthorp.

April 4-5, 2007 – Provided Datatel software training in communications management fundamentals to Development Director Sonita Oldfield-Carlson.

April 17-18, 2007 – Provided Datatel software training in communications management for Colleague Advancement to Development Director Sonita Oldfield-Carlson.

April 20-22, 2007 – Provided access to the Illinois News Broadcasters Association Convention in Galesburg, IL to News Director Herb Trix.

2. Establishment of Internship Program to Assist Members of Community in Acquiring Broadcast Employment Skills:

January 1^st to August 31^st, 2007 – Provides direct exposure to broadcast journalism environment by providing paid internships for area college students pursuing communications oriented coursework. Administered by Herb Trix, news Director, and Lowell Dorman, General Manager.
