Saint Ambrose University

Homecoming weekend will be more than just football and alumni parties for Saint Ambrose University and Assumption High School in Davenport. Friday night they'll celebrate the completion of phase 1 of their new athletic complex.

Augustana College

At this weekend's homecoming game, Augustana College will honor former record-breaking student athletes. Saturday, the college will induct six new members into the "Tribe of Vikings Hall of Fame."

As they begin their 20th season, the Quad City Mallards will look to the past. When the Mallards open the new season next month, players will wear jerseys worn by the team 20 years ago, during its inaugural season in 1996. 

Cred SAU Athletic Department

Saint Ambrose University will have three new varsity sports teams starting next year. This week, the athletic department announced it will add men's and women's swimming and diving, and women's lacrosse. 

Clinton Lumber Kings

The Clinton Lumber Kings and the Seattle Mariners will continue to work together for another two years. This week, the two teams extended their affiliation agreement through the 2018 season.

Clinton general manager Ted Tornow says he had a great relationship with the parent, major league team until two years ago when a whole new staff took over in Seattle.


The new season begins in two weeks for the Augustana College football team, and coach Steve Bell is looking forward to a better year. The Vikings finished with a record of 4 and 6 a year ago, during his first season in Rock Island.

Ryan Moore won the John Deere Classic yesterday, picking up his fifth PGA Tour title. The  33-year-old shot a 4-under 67, beating Ben Martin by two strokes. Moore finished at 22-under for the tournament at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, playing the final 46 holes without a bogey.
